Marc has a background in several general and commercial management and board positions at KPN, AUCS, Carrier1, UPC, Neutral Internet Exchange (NL-ix), DINL and NLnet. Currently, he is a part-time consultant at MJGC.
Marc was a member of the AMS-IX board that founded the AMS-IX BV. During this period Marc oversaw pivotal moments in the organization’s history, like hiring the first CEO and the first CTO, plus his complete Ops-team, and renting the first AMS-IX office.
In those years, ‘groundbreaking’ services were introduced, like 1 Gb ports and IPv6, while the AMS-IX Operations were insourced from Surfnet to AMS-IX.
Moreover, new exchange services such as MDX and GRX were introduced, and EuroIX was founded with the help of AMS-IX.
Last but not least, two new POP’s were added: extension from SARA & Nikhef to Telecity-2, and to Global Switch.
Marc was a member of the AMS-IX Board from Sept 1999 till Sept 2003, the last 2 years as the Chairman.
