In September 2004, his first book, De broncode (The Source Code), was published. It tells the story of a man who invented an unimaginable coding technology that could change the world, but died before he could pass on the source code. The book became a Dutch bestseller.

In March 2010, his second bestseller was published: Nina, de onweerstaanbare opkomst van een power lady (Nina, the Irresistible Rise of a Power Lady). The main character of the book, the founder of the internet company World Online, made serious efforts to prevent its publication.

In 2013, he won the Dutch journalism award De Tegel together with Jesse Frederik. In 2018, he and journalist Kim van Keken were named Dutch Journalists of the Year for 2017. They also won the Anne Vondeling Prize for political journalism for their muckraking stories exposing the unethical business dealings of the chairman of the Netherlands’ most powerful political party, the VVD.
